Por primera vez en mi programa Hemisferios de decisión radio tratamos un tema tan importante para la sociedad como es la investigación del cáncer. Hoy hablaremos de una teoría que pretende arrojar más luz acerca de cómo se producen las metástasis de tumores de mama en otros órganos y como poder combatirlas.

Según la OMS, en el año 2020 hubo 2,2 millones de casos y cerca de una de cada 12 mujeres enfermaran de cáncer de mama a lo largo de su vida, la principal causa de mortalidad en el género femenino. Pero gracias a la investigación y el mayor poder adquisitivo de los países desarrollados, entre 1980 y 2020, se redujo la mortalidad en un 40%. Ello es debido no solo a la detección precoz, sino a la aparición de nuevas terapias innovadoras, como ahora veremos.

Para hablar de ello, entrevistamos a un especialista singular, de los que hay pocos, con grandes conocimientos en diversas materias científicas o humanísticas.

Eduardo López Collazo estudio Física Nuclear en su Cuba natal. Y se doctoró en Farmacia en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Ha realizado estancias post doctorales en institutos y centros como el Max Planck, en el Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas del CSIC y en la Brown University de Estados Unidos. Desde el 2013 es director científico de la Instituto de investigación del Hospital La Paz, habiendo desarrollado líneas de investigación ligadas a enfermedades como la Sepsis, metástasis, leucemia, fibrosis quísticas SAHS y síndromes coronarios agudos. Además, es investigador de instituto Nacional de Salud.

Pero además es un reconocido divulgador en blogs y columnas de medios de todo tipo. Y como decía, no solo en biomedicina, sino que es un reconocido crítico de arte y divulgador científico en su columna del Español.

This is the first time in my program Hemisferios at Decision Radio that we tackle a very important subject for the society such the cancer research. Today we will be taking about a new theory that pretend to shed more light about how the breast cancer spread in other organs, and how to fight them.

According to WHO, during year 2020 there were 2,2M cases and near to 1 of each 12 women will be having cancer at some point in their life. Being the first cause of mortality for women. But thanks to research and the hight acquisitive power of developing countries, between 1980 and 2020, mortality has been reduced in 40%,.This is due not only to earlier detection, but also because the discovery of new innovative therapies.

To talk about, we have interview today with Eduardo Lopez Collazo. Nuclear Physicist by the University of Cuba, where he was born, PhD in Pharmacy by Complutense in Madrid, and post grade studies in Max Plank, Biomedical Research Institute of CSIC and in the Brown University of US. Since 2013 he is Scientific Director of the Research Institute of La Paz Hospital having carrying out lines of research in Sepsis, Metastasis, Leukaemia, cyst fibrosis SHAS and acute coronary syndrome. He is also researcher at the National Health Institute
